Guatemala is the home of antiquity, with historical sites scattered across its regions. The country is known to house civilizations thought to be extinct, colonial towns, and Mayan ruins that tell tales of history. Tilkal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is at the heart of all that Guatemala offers.

The country also has some charming cities, and one worthy of note is Antigua, a small colonial town surrounded by volcanoes. That’s not all; the country has some of the thickest jungles around, and with its black sandy beaches, large lakes, natural hot springs, roaring rivers, and smoldering volcanoes.

Some target sites for tourists are:

  • Mayan pyramids
  • Quetzaltenango
  • Monterrico
  • Lake Atitlán
  • Semuc Champey National Park

Guatemala’s cuisine is majorly made up of black beans, corn tortillas, and white rice, usually served with meat and fish.
