Rail tour explores music and culture of Deep South of US

Music-loving holidaymakers can immerse themselves in the rich culture and sounds of the USA in a new travel experience.

Tour specialist Great Rail Journeys, has announced its Tracks of the Deep South journey, offering an unforgettable trip through the heartland of great American music.

This 14-day guided tour features highlights such as Graceland, home to Elvis Presley’s 14-acre mansion, and Café Du Mond in New Orleans’ French Quarter – where guests can sample the world-famous beignets and coffee on a guided sightseeing tour.




The tour begins in Atlanta, a renowned railway city that played a crucial part in the American Civil War. Travellers will also journey to Nashville, visiting the legendary popular music venue, Grand Ole Opry, and experience a walk down ‘Music Row’ known for its famous recording studios.

The tour continues to Memphis, known for its extraordinary musical history and home to Graceland, Elvis’s famous mansion, as well as the Sun Studio, known as the birthplace of rock’n’roll and frequented by legends Elvis and Johnny Cash.

The journey also includes visits to Mississippi, Louisiana and New Orleans via Amtrak’s City of New Orleans service.

It ends in Houston, home to NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, home to Mission Control and displays dedicated to NASA’s history.

The price is £4,095 per person and includes 12 nights hotel accommodation and flights from London Heathrow to Atlanta and from Houston to London Heathrow.
